After having strep throat times since summer (one time being in October and one time being 3 weeks later in November) and missing 10 out of the first 55 days of school, we asked the doctor about the next step. Since Mitch and I had both battled with our tonsils our entire childhood and finally both had Tonsillectomies in our 20's...we didn't want Gavin to go through what we went through. We went to see an ENT on November 16th. He took one look, asked some questions, and said Gavin would be better off without them! On November 30th the nasty things were removed and Gavin was on his way to recovery!
He was so brave. He didn't cry when they took him from us. We had checked out a book from the library about having your tonsils out. We read it and talked about what was going to happen. There were no surprises for him. He made us very proud!
Once we got home, he got get well cards (even got a card from his bus driver!), gifts of ice cream and popsicles, everyone called to check in on him and see if there was anything that he needed or that we needed as a family. I feel very blessed and loved by all of my friends and family. Thank you very much for being there for us, I can't tell you how much it has meant to me!
