I have no idea why...but in Iowa they don't trick-or-treat on Halloween Night. The day before Halloween, they call "Begger's Night" and from 6pm-8pm on that night you trick-or-treat. Weird!
Anyway...this was our third Halloween in Iowa. The first 2 were COLD!! So cold the kids had to wear clothes under their costumes and jackets over them. And so cold that we only went around the block, because our fingers and toes were frozen! This year was not that way - We were blessed with a beautiful day!! The peak temperature for the day was almost 80!! Crazy since earlier in the week it was barely 50. When we left for trick-or-treating it was in the 60's! I had on a long sleeve shirt and a jacket vest and was perfect!! The kids didn't have to wear "extra clothes" under their costumes, but since I had to fight with Georgia on 2 other occasions when the weather was cold to wear a long sleeve shirt under her costume - she freely picked a shirt out before I said anything. I was very happy, because I was going to make her wear at least tights since her costume did not have sleeves.
We went trick-or-treating with a group of 7 kids. They had a blast. Running from house to house. Us adults barely walked up to the house they were just getting candy at and they were already off to the next house. They didn't stop! We walked about 2 full blocks in our neighborhood. When we were about 5 houses from home - Georgia said "Look I hit the jackpot" and showed us her candy bucket that was 3/4 full of candy! Gavin and Georgia were smiling ear to ear with all the goodies they collected!!
